The workshop was held in Paris, France, on the 12th June 2008, in the Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée.
The name of the national workshop was “Culture and Sustainable development†and its aim was to explain and show how culture can be the 5th pillar of sustainable development. Two axes were developed: the importance of cultural diversity and the links between heritage (notably the rural heritage) and sustainable development. The workshop was organised with the support of the French Ministry of Environment (Training Institute of Environment: IFORE) and attracted a lot of participants generating interesting discussion. A full report of the workshop with summaries of all speeches was published in the IFORE website (in French) and is available here.
